Shipping Storage Container UK provides commercial container delivery and haulage strictly within the United Kingdom. Our delivery routes cover:
- England: Greater London, South East, East Anglia, Midlands, South West, North West, Yorkshire, and North East.
- Scotland: Central Belt (Glasgow, Edinburgh), Lowlands, Aberdeenshire, and Highlands (specialist routes).
- Wales: South Wales, Mid Wales, and North Wales.
- Northern Ireland: Belfast and provincial delivery via Irish Sea roll-on/roll-off ferry links upon quotation.
No International Freight: We do not export, ship, or deliver containers to Europe, North America, or any international territory outside the United Kingdom.
2 Handling, Processing & Transit Schedules
Due to the multi-tonne nature of industrial containers, orders undergo yard inspection and route planning prior to dispatch:
- Order Cut-Off Time: 15:00 GMT (Monday through Friday).
- Depot Handling Time: 1 to 2 business days (Monday โ Friday). This covers unit selection in our Grays yard, seam testing, door check, and transport booking.
- Transit Times: Deliveries to England and Wales take between 2 to 5 business days. Deliveries to Scotland take 4 to 7 business days.
- Deliveries take place Monday through Friday between 07:30 and 18:00. Saturday morning deliveries are available upon special request.
3 Delivery Pricing & Transparent Quotations
Because shipping containers are oversized heavy freight items (1.3 to 4.0 tonnes), delivery rates are calculated based on:
- The container length (10ft, 20ft, or 40ft).
- The delivery destination postcode distance from our primary depot in Grays, Essex.
- Vehicle type required (rigid lorry vs articulated 40ft lorry).
All-Inclusive Fixed Quotes: Every quotation issued by our sales team clearly states the container price, the exact delivery haulage charge, and VAT. What we quote is the exact price you payโno hidden fuel levies or depot lift charges.
4 The HIAB Crane Offload Protocol
Standard deliveries are executed using specialist vehicles fitted with hydraulic HIAB cranes:
- Our fully certified driver-operator swings and positions the container directly onto your ground adjacent to the lorry bed.
- HIAB cranes typically have an operational reach of up to 15 to 20 feet (4.5m โ 6m) parallel to the side of the vehicle.
- The lorry requires firm, flat ground (concrete, tarmac, or compacted hardcore) to extend its hydraulic stabilizer legs.
5 Mandatory Site Access Requirements
The buyer is responsible for verifying that the delivery location satisfies the following physical clearances:
- Minimum Width: Entrance gates and driveways must be at least 10ft (3.05m) wide.
- Vertical Clearance: Minimum 14ft (4.25m) clearance free of low tree branches, gutters, or signs.
- Overhead Power Cables: HIAB cranes CANNOT operate within 10 meters of live overhead power cables under UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) laws.
- Soft Ground: Lorries weighing up to 32โ44 tonnes cannot drive onto wet soil, grass fields, or marshy terrain where tires may sink.
6 Customer & Haulier Depot Collections
Customers and trade hauliers are welcome to collect purchased containers directly from our primary yard with zero delivery fee:

Note: Hauliers collecting from our depot must operate compliant twist-lock skeletal trailers and possess standard PPE (hard hat, hi-vis, steel toe boots).
7 Tracking & Delivery Day Communication
We keep you informed at every step of your container journey:
- Delivery Date Confirmation: Our transport team emails and calls you 24 to 48 hours prior to delivery to confirm your scheduled slot.
- Driver Call Ahead: The HGV driver will phone your designated site contact 30 to 60 minutes before arriving at your property.
- Proof of Delivery (POD): An authorized site representative must inspect the container and sign the delivery note upon completion.
